Get to know Dr. Michelle Chaban

I was always intrigued by the human mind and understanding what motivated and shaped behavior and relationships.  In college, I knew I wanted to choose a career path that enabled me to connect and help others.  My decision to pursue my doctorate in Clinical Psychology was solidified after my Abnormal Psychology Professor invited a guest speaker to share her experiences of living with Schizophrenia.   I was in awe and inspired by her story.  Despite her serious mental illness, with clinical support, she was able to lead a quality fulfilling life.

When clients seek my services, I understand they are often struggling and in vulnerable situations.  The therapeutic relationship I cultivate with each client is a very special one.  I invite  clients to share their unique story with me and then together, we explore and create a reasonable plan to address the issues they are facing.  I am often inspired by my clients’ resilience, courage, and ability to tackle some of the hardest circumstances in their lives.  The best part of my job as a clinical psychologist is to witness clients gain more awareness, feel empowered, and make positive changes in their lives.  Human suffering is a given in life but it’s more tolerable when you don’t have to experience it alone.  And, it’s my belief that it often gives us an opportunity to reflect, grow, and become the best version of ourselves.
